Here are some of our favorite money saving tips and tricks to help you start your financial journey and accomplish your money goals.
- Vision board
Often, when we need motivation we create vision boards with our dreams and goals so we are reminded of them every day and we do not go off course. Same can be done if you want to improve your money habits.
Create a financial vision board to help you stay on track with your financial goals. This way, you will remind yourself every day of what your financial goal is and you will not overspend on things you actually do not need.
- Set a budget
This is a really great tip as you will limit your spending, and discover a new way of living. It is shocking how much we spend every day on things we do not need, however, we do not realize that as we are not keeping track and do not have a budget set for that period.
There is a tonne of ways to save money on everyday things, like coupons, finding discounts in different stores and getting great deals. We often do not look for them and spend much more than we actually have to.
- Spending Diary
As we have mentioned before, because we do not track our spending, we often overspend and not even realize it. When we track what we buy and how much we spend, we are more likely to plan our budget and spend more carefully.
The amount we spend on eating out can be huge, and when we put all the expenses on paper it can change the way we think and limit the amount of money for eating out. Cooking at home, with friends and family can be your new favorite activity and you can save a lot of money.
You will be shocked to find out how much you could have saved and what you could have bought with that money, instead of eating out.
- Start Saving Now
When we think about saving money, we often say we’ll start tomorrow, we’ll start next week or when we get a raise. That is not the right attitude, as there will always be tomorrow or something else we wait for.
If you want to start saving money, you have to do it now. Create your spending diary, set your budget limit and start tracking your spending right away. Remember that in a year, you will wish you have started today.
- Start small
When you decide to start saving, you do not have to start big right away and set aside half of your salary. The right way is to ease into it and start small. Choose an amount you will not even notice and put it in your savings account. Next month increase the amount and do that every time. You will be surprised how much you will save.
