5 Tips and Tricks for In-Flight Sleep

It is no secret that we all love to travel and visit new destinations. If we choose a far away location, a long flight is ahead and if you are among the lucky ones who can sleep while on a plane, here are some tips and tricks to help you have a better sleep and arrive at your desired destination well rested and ready to explore.

  1. Travel at night

It is much easier to fall asleep when travelling at night, because it is the time you usually sleep at and if you have had a busy day behind you, the exhaustion won’t let you stay up for long.

Another tip is to get up a couple of hours earlier the night before, so the chances of sleeping through your flight are even bigger.

  1. Wear comfortable clothes

Be sure to dress accordingly when travelling by a plane. Wear sweatpants and a loose jacket as tight clothes that are uncomfortable will make it a lot harder for you to fall asleep. In case you are travelling with an airline company that does not provide blankets on a flight, bring a hoodie with you to cover yourself with, as it may get cold during the flight.

  1. Sleep Accessories

You will probably be travelling with a lot of people who may talk and laugh during you flight, so be sure to bring headphones or earmuffs on your flight. As enjoying as it is to travel with interesting people you can communicate with, if you want to sleep you need to exclude the noise. In case you are travelling by day, be sure to bring a sleep mask with you so you can create the perfect atmosphere for yourself.

Another tip is to bring a travel cushion with you so sleeping will be more comfortable. You do not want to arrive at your destination with a neck pain from an uncomfortable position you were in during your flight.

  1. Choose the perfect seat

It is impossible to sleep if you have to move every time the person sitting next to you wants to visit the bathroom, so sitting next to a window is the perfect choice. If it is possible, get a seat next to the emergency exit door as it will give you more leg room and comfort.

  1. Food and Drinks

If you are looking for a good rest on the flight, make sure to avoid large meals with spicy food as it will be harder for you to fall asleep. Choose fruits and vegetables or some other light and filling food.

It is good to drink water and hydrate before your flight, just do not drink too much as it will wake you up to visit the bathroom. It will be much harder to fall asleep after that. Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol before your flight because it will dehydrate you and keep you awake.

Please share with us some of your go-to tips and tricks for sleeping during a flight, as we are always looking forward to learning new travel hacks.
