In this week’s Manigo Travel Gem we are writing about Èze, a commune in the Alps-Maritimes department in southeastern France.
France is definitely one of the most romantic countries in the world, famous for its beautiful cities, breathtaking beaches and the perfect mountains. It is safe to say that France has it all.
One of the most beautiful parts of this fascinating country is the French Riviera that includes famous beach resorts such as Saint-Tropez, Cannes and the independent microstate of Monaco. During various festivals, carnivals and concerts, the French Riviera is visited by thousands of people who are eager to come back every year to the wonder that is France.
Among these famous beaches talked about all over the world, the French Riviera has many hidden treasures which are astonishing and definitely a dream destination. One such dream destination is Eze, a hidden Mediterranean coastal jewel located between Nice and Monaco with amazing beaches and breathtaking views. In case you decide to stay in Nice, Eze is only 30minutes away by bus and it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the glorious scenic ride along the sea and up the mountains.
Once in Eze, it feels like being transported into the Medieval period because of the beautiful cobblestone streets with narrow passages, it is a truly unique experience as it has a preserved historic village, a church that has not been touched for ages and the remarkable JardinExotiqued’Èze. Being placed on top of the mountain it has a jaw dropping view of the Mediterranean coast and the beautiful hills below. This botanical area has a lot of Mediterranean plants and they are all presented with informative panels.
But of course, for all the tourists who are interested in shopping and finding out more about Eze, there are delightful coffee places, perfumeries and shopping stores. In 1970s Jean-Francois Costa opened a perfumery Fragonard in Eze and Paris, that became popular all over the world, famous for their perfume, soap and quality cosmetic. A must see in Eze is the amazing Musée d’Eze filled with Eze’s history.
There is no better way to relax than to sit in a beautiful small coffee shop, have a tasty French-famous croissant, enjoy the amazing views of the Mediterranean and be a part of that astonishing experience that Eze offers.
